The urban legends we heard as JWs!
by stuckinarut2 inhow often have we heard some sort of sensationalist urban legend as jws?.
here is an example i was told as a kid:.
the experience of a sister who knocked on a door and was greeted by a big fierce looking man- intimidating and mean.

I too heard the one about the sister protected by invisible Angels out in service. I also heard the one about John Denver telling all JWs to get out of his concert. Both of these have been specifically debunked by snopes.com
I also heard one about a demonic toy that made a kid's clothes get up and walk around by themselves.
Then there was an apostate dressed as a clown who went in during the public talk to scream in the speakers face. He opened his mouth, but no sound would come out.
Then there was the pioneer who swears that the dog coming at her was held back by an invisible force. Guess she never heard of an electric fence.

I saw The Last Jedi yesterday ... spoilers!
by LoveUniHateExams inyeah i saw ep 8 tlj yesterday.. first off, the special effects - a combination of cgi and practical - are fantastic, although with a budget of $200 million i expect them to be.. there are many issues i have with this movie and here's one: leia flying through space, i mean, wtf?!.
yes, we know leia is luke's brother and so has some force-sensitivity - she talked telepathically to luke in the empire strikes back.. apart from that, she's never really used any abilities she may have or been taught the ways of the force ... and now she's flying through space!
xd.

Don’t confuse a “plot hole” with a “twist”.
Wikipedia defines a plot hole as "illogical or impossible events, and statements or events that contradict earlier events in the storyline", so I'd advise you not to confuse plot holes with a story direction you personally don't prefer.
Does Luke drinking milk from the ball sack tits of some alien sea cow add to the “meat” of the movie?
No of course not. That was humor, and tastes will vary. Personally I found Yoda's behavior in Empire Strikes Back far more cringe worthy, even when it was explained away as 'testing' Luke.
As for twists, I had in mind things like Kylo betraying Snoke even while he was reading his mind which was clever, the mind bridging being a ploy of Snoke all along, the fact that even though Kylo liked Rey he wasn't going to turn good, he just wanted more power for himself, the way Luke went out at the end being far more meaningful than a stereotypical lightsaber fight, and things like that. I also liked how Snoke told Kylo to 'take that ridiculous thing off' (his helmet) and called him a child in a mask. I took that as a well deserved dig at Abrahm's The Force Awakens, who was trying to make Kylo a bad ass Vader knock off. Episode VII deserved to be subverted and Episode VIII did it, and well IMO.

Disney debunked that rumor about stand alones being put on hold the other day.
Force Awakens, while fun, was a big disappointment for me: to derivative and leaning on '80s nostalgia like everything else is today. TLJ, while having g some fluff that could've been discarded, had more meat on it's bones and original twist, definitely closer to what a Lucas production would've been. Loved Rogue One, thought it was amazing. Solo wasn't a masterpiece or essential, but it was a very good, solid film. And BTW, Return of the Jedi is my favorite of the originals 😁

Sarah Huckabee Sanders Kicked Out Of Restaurant For Supporting Trump
by minimus ini think it’s ridiculous to kick people and families out of a restaurant because of politics.

I think it's ridiculous to kick people out of a country because of their religion or where they've been born.
Come on now, you know full well that isn't the reason. There are many immigrants, I know some personally, that work hard and do everything by the book. The ones I know are even more responsible and contribute to society more than some that were born in America. In that case, nobody cares about their religion and where they were born. The problem comes with illegals who purposely try to play the system, contribute little, leech much, and often add to crime. In the words of many a circuit assembly chairman, 'We have a deficit'.

Stan, that's the best one yet 👍 It can easily be explained as an accident.
the fellow PIMO should reply back with "Tight Pants Tony" or some other expression only those awakened would know.
A regular pioneer in my hall used that phrase "tight pants Tony" jokingly, and on another occasion she used the phrase "don't drink the Kool aid". And I'm pretty sure she's all in.

Doubting Bro:
Allowed me to realize that there is no true religion. I was already convinced that every other religion was false and beyond redemption. So when I applied their lens to my own religion, I saw they were no different!
Exactly, agree with every word. That's a two edged sword the WTS has to accept. If they want to teach us to think critically of and rip apart other Faith's, is it any wonder that eventually some of us will stop and do the same to our own belief system? Once you see something it can't be unseen.
